Sports Certificate/Diploma
BTEC Level 3

The Programme

The BTEC is a 7-Unit qualification that consists of:

BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Sport (equal to one A/S)

You study 4 Units in Year 1:

Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
The Physiology of Fitness
Assessing Risk in Sport
Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
 
To make this course up to BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport (equal to an A2):

You study 3 additional units to those studied in Year 1:

Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport
Practical Individual Sport
Exercise, health & Lifestyle
 
This course has a 100% pass rate.


Requirements:
At least 4 GCSE Passes Grade D. GCSE PE or BTEC First in Sport desirable, but not essential.

Next Steps:

This course is designed to equip individuals with knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for success in current and future employment in the sport related industries or for progression into Higher Education.

Learners that successfully complete the course have been known to go into careers in Sports development, Sports coaching, The Armed Forces, PE Teaching, The Leisure Industry or Outdoor Education.

'I chose this course because I liked sport. I though that I would have to be really good at practical sport to do well, but I have realised you don't. Once I started the subject I found that I liked it more and more. I like the way that there is no exam at the end and that it is all coursework.'
