Holidays and Study Periods

When you enrol in the Sixth Form you are agreeing to continue with full time education. All of your courses will be demanding in different ways, and if you are to succeed then you will need to devote enough time to College work. We recognise that you may need to engage in paid part time employment both for financial reasons and to gain valuable experience. We would prefer that you do not work too many hours in paid employment outside of College hours, as we know from experience that this can impact severely upon the quality of your academic progress. As a rule, any more than 10 hours is to be actively discouraged.

Study Periods

There will be times during the week when you do not have a timetabled lesson. In addition to your lessons, General RE lesson and PSHE sessions you are expected to select up to 5 independent study periods that will form part of your timetable. You will need to sign in for each of these periods in the Learning Resource Centre and attendance will be monitored closely. You will be able to study at home during these periods but you must sign out at reception before you leave. We trust that, as mature and responsible students, you will use this time to best effect.
