Engineering Applied AS/A2
The Programme
The Applied GCE in Engineering can be studied over one or two years and is divided into six equally weighted units.
The course is assessed through a combination of coursework and external examinations.
The course will give you the opportunity to learn about engineering products and engineering practices with hands-on experience. You will be able to use the same equipment that is used in industry, such as CADCAM and traditional manufacturing machines.
The AS qualification is completed in the first year. The A2 qualification is completed in the second year.
Requirements:
Students embarking on AS and A2 in Engineering are expected to have achieved at least a grade B at GCSE in Design and Technology and Mathematics.
Next Steps:
You will have a good opportunity to gain employment within the many sectors of engineering at apprentice or higher levels.
The qualification will give you the necessary experience and knowledge to embark upon Further or Higher Education, either at NVQ, HND or degree level.
Student Comment:
'I really enjoyed GCSE Engineering and want to gain a higher level qualification. The small classes at Carmel enable me to have the support that I need.'
