The Programme:
This course is aimed at those students who wish to investigate the fundamentals of computer animation and games design with a view to following this type of course in Higher Education.

The course covers all aspects of 2D and 3D modelling, animation, texturing, lighting and working with cameras. The finished portfolio of work will include an animated ‘fly through’ of a game level and a completed character with walk cycle.

The main topics within the course are 2D Flash animation, the production of concept art, the analysis and understanding of gaming principles and components, 3D modelling and animation, technical constraints, the creation of a 3D game level and finally the creation of a 3D games character.

Requirements:
Students are expected to have obtained a level 2 pass in ICT, either from the GCSE or OCR Nationals Level 2.

The games industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy with advances in hardware and software allowing ever more dynamic and creative games and simulations with rapid career progression for those who excel. This course can give a valuable advantage to those students who wish to follow a similar type of course in Higher Education.
