Business Studies
The Programme:
Why not prepare yourself for the world of work or Higher Education by following one of the business courses at Carmel? This is also a course for life, a subject that deals with the real world and the changes going on in it.
There are three courses available:
Applied Business - both single and double awards and the equivalent of 1 or 2 A levels. Further details are in the section on applied qualifications.
BTEC Business Studies for students re-sitting their GCSE year. Further details are in the section on applied qualifications.
A level Business Studies
The A level Programme:
This course is split into AS and A2 as are other A levels.
AS Unit 1 - Marketing, Accounting and Finance
Unit 2 - People and Operations Management
Unit 3 - External Influences and Objectives and Strategies
A2 Unit 4 - Business Decision Making
Unit 5 - Project or Report
Unit 6 - Case Study
Requirements:
You do not need to have studied GCSE Business Studies to follow this course but will need a sound grounding in English Language and a minimum of 5 passes at GCSE, grade C or above.
Next Steps:
Most universities offer a variety of Business Studies courses. When choosing a university Business course it is advisable to make sure you can specialise in the aspect of business that holds most interest for you, (egg marketing, HR etc). There are many opportunities to enter businesses at 18 and train as a manager (either general or in a specific area) and continue acquiring qualifications while working. These may be Nationals or Degrees and again general or specialised such as accounting.
