Engineering First Certificate/Diploma
BTEC

 

The Programme:
Students on the BTEC First programme can opt to specialise in either Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

They can study for either one or two years. The BTEC First Certificate is completed in the first year (worth 2 GCSEs).
 
The BTEC First Diploma is completed in the second year (worth a further 2 GCSEs).

The course brings the opportunity to learn about engineering products and engineering practices with hands on experience.

There is the chance to use the same equipment that is used in industry, such as CADCAM, electronic testing and traditional manufacturing machines.

 

Requirements:
You will have 4 GCSE passes at grade D or above.

You will have studied either Engineering, Electronics or Resistant Materials at GCSE level.

Next Steps:
You will have a good opportunity to gain employment within the many sectors of engineering at apprentice or higher levels. You will also gain the necessary experience and knowledge to embark upon further education, either at Advanced GCE, NVQ or HND level.
