AS ICT

The Programme

This course sees students develop a wide range of ICT skills together with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ICT. Candidates are encouraged to become discerning users of ICT.
Assessment: the coursework element is worth 40% and there is only one examination of just 2 hours worth 60%. Coursework assessment is structured around tasks which cover a wide range of skills, and the emphasis of the course is on business ICT focus, rather than the traditional Computing perspective—areas like algorithms have been removed and candidates can gain skills that can be transferred into the business world.

Requirements

Students should have the equivalent of 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths. The students should also have a keen interest in ICT systems.

Next Steps

This course makes up the first year of the full A2 qualification.
This qualification provides the ideal foundation for those students who wish to pursue ICT at degree level or as a career.

This course is newly available to this years prospectus.
