ICT
The Programme
This course sees students develop a wide range of ICT skills together with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ICT. Candidates are encouraged to become discerning users of ICT.
Assessment: the coursework element is worth 40% and there is only one examination, of just 2 hours, worth 60%. Coursework assessment is structured around tasks which cover a wide range of skills, and the emphasis of the course is on business ICT, rather than the traditional computing perspective - areas like algorithms have been removed and candidates gain skills that can be transferred into the business world.
Requirements
Students should have the equivalent of 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics. The students should also have a keen interest in ICT systems. If students have a GCSE grade B or equivalent in ICT it would be a great advantage.
Next Steps
This course makes up the first year of the full A2 qualification.
This qualification provides the ideal base for those students who wish to pursue ICT at degree level or as a career.
