Advanced Diploma in IT
Applied Level 3

The Programme:  An Advanced Diploma in IT will reflect the blend of business, interpersonal and project skills needed in modern IT and Telecoms professional roles.    The focus is on competencies relevant to IT professional work rather than IT user skills, technology in a business context and the integration of business, interpersonal and technical themes.  At level 3, Principal Learning covers three themes each including a number of topics such as:
Business: Understanding organisations, The Potential of Technology
People: Professional Development, Making projects successful
Technology: Creating technology solutions, Managing technology systems

Assessment:

Evidence of work will be presented in portfolio form. There will be a mixture of internal and external assessment.

In addition, students will be required to do some Additional Specialist Learning which will further develop and complement the sector-relevant knowledge and skills set out in the Principal Learning. An Extended Project will give students the opportunity to specialise further in an area of their choice.

Requirements: 
Students should have the equivalent of five A*- C grades at GCSE including Maths and English. A level 2 ICT qualification is desirable.

 

Next steps: 
Students holding an Advanced Diploma in IT will have a solid grounding in the principles and practices of technology in business. It will provide a unique industry-related qualification as well as entry into Higher Education.
