Advanced Diploma in Engineering
Applied Level 3

The Programme:  

The Advanced Diploma is designed for students who would like an industry-related alternative to traditional A levels which can help secure employment or a university place.  At level 3 the Principal Learning covers four themes each including a number of topics such as:

  1. The engineered world: Engineering businesses and the environment
  2. Discovering and engineering technology: Applications of computer-aided designing/Instrumentation and control/Production and manufacturing
  3. Engineering the future: Innovative design and enterprise
  4. Analytical methods for engineering: Mathematical techniques and applications for engineers/Scientific principles and applications for engineers.

In addition, students will be required to do some Additional Specialist Learning which will further develop and compliment the sector-relevant knowledge and skills set out in the Principal Learning. An Extended Project will give students the opportunity to specialise further in an area of their choice.

 

Requirements: 
Students should have the equivalent of five A*-C grades at GCSE including Maths and English plus at least a B grade in a technology subject.

 

Next Steps: 
An Advanced Diploma in Engineering will lead to a wide selection of career options. For young people who aspire to professional status such as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, the level 3 Diploma will provide a unique industry-related qualification.  It should also help you secure a place at university.
