Aims of in class support
To establish sound professional links with colleagues by negotiation and exchange of ideas.
To raise the Class Teacher's (CT's) awareness of the needs of individual pupils and to suggest ways in which their needs may be met.
In partnership with the CT, meet the needs of individual pupils, for example, by providing additional explanations, setting modified work or preparing alternative programme's of work.
To demonstrate good practice.
To review lesson plans in advance, in partnership with the CT, in order to ensure that there is time for any additional resourcing or adaptation of content, i.e. the planned use of differentiation.
To teach the whole class from time to time so as to maintain credibility with pupils, prevent de-skilling of LS staff and give pupils with learning difficulties the benefit of small group work with a subject specialist.
To show evidence of joint lesson planning on the department standard form.
To facilitate the effective evaluation of in-class support by responding positively and effectively to issues raised on standard departmental evaluation forms.
To use feedback from evaluation forms for the further development for good practice used.
