Carmel is a Voluntary Aided Catholic 11-18 College with specialisms in Technology (including D&T, Mathematics and Science) and Applied Learning.  We have achieved the status of a High Performing Specialist School and as both a Training School and a Leading Edge School we seek to provide a service to other schools in the local area and the wider region.

Our College mission statement underpins and drives the leadership of the College.  We recognise that each student is unique and we seek to ensure that every individual in the College community develops to their full potential.  Specifically, our mission statement says “we must seek to ensure that all members of our community experience and find hope, joy and fulfilment and a sense of their own worth and that of others by participating as fully as possible in College life”.

The College values the excellent support it receives from parents and carers.  As parents you are the first educators: your children are precious to you and they are precious to us.  We recognise the responsibility we have in engaging in collaborative parenthood.  At Carmel, your son or daughter will experience challenge and a range of opportunities to achieve his/her potential.  We aim to ensure that our students leave Carmel ready to meet the opportunities and challenges of their adult lives.

At Carmel we are justly proud of the examination successes of our students.  We have a team of outstanding staff who constantly encourage their students to be the best they can be.  There are so many aspects of life at Carmel which are important and part of the maturing process.  The cultivation of goodness, laughter, the joy of childhood, concern for others and the development of spirituality are all so crucial to both meet the challenges of everyday life and eventually make a positive contribution to society.

The aim of the College is to provide a community where all are able to grown in faith and love for one another.  At Carmel we all have high expectations of one another with a recognition that we all learn differently and that making mistakes and taking risks are accepted as part of the learning process.
