Applications and Further Information
How to apply?
Check to see if you have the right entry qualifications.
You must have gained the following qualification before you start training:
A degree (Bsc, BA, BS, etc) 2:2 and above preferred
GCSE English and Maths
GCSE Science (c or above if you wish to teach primary)
For secondary applicants the type and subject of the degree is very important. The subject content ought to be 50% of the subject in which you are to teach.
For primary applicants the subject content is less significant. A relevant degree would be preferential in that it would support the trainee and the school in providing a high quality curriculum.
Please note: You cannot have started any other QTS qualification before. Only in extreme circumstances can you start a second QTS course if you have started a QTS course and dropped out.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIND A SCHOOL
In order to apply you need to:
1: download the relevant application form
2: complete and sign the form
3: return the form, CV and letter of application (explain in the letter
the reason for applying and wanting to be a teacher)
4: the deadline for applications is posted on the website. Applications
are accepted from June 1 in the previous year to starting. The deadline
for applying is November prior to starting
5: The representatives from the schools involved short list candidates
and then arrange to interview and appoint applicants during February-March.
